Nokia strengthens its TD-SCDMA portfolio announcing the Nokia X5 for TD-SCDMA. ![]() Today Nokia introduced the Nokia C5 for TD-SCDMA (C5-01), an affordable and classically styled candy bar smartphone. It runs S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 on Symbian OS 9.3 and features a 5 megapixel camera and stainless steel materials. It ships with support for a number of services including 139 mail box, Fetion IM, MM Ovi Store and a range of pre-loaded content. The C5 for TD-SCDMA will be available, in China, from Q3 2010. Nokia has already announced the Nokia C5-00, which has a different design, but similar feature set. However the C5-01, due to its TD-SCDMA feature is a China only handset. TD-SCDMA is China Mobile's version of 3G, which has been developed domestically and is currently being rolled out across the China Mobile network. The Nokia C5 is a stylish, powerful TD-SCDMA device at a new affordability level in Nokia's TD-SCDMA portfolio and is guaranteed to turn heads. The Nokia C5 has a stylish stainless-steel keypad in a compact design. The guys at Pocketnow unboxes the Nokia N8 and also takes a look at the N8 hardware. The Nokia N8 is the new flagship phone from Nokia which comes to set new standards for performance and functionality. This is a touchscreen phone with a huge display of 3,5″ which features multi-touch input, proximity and accelerometer sensor plus scratch resistant surface. Regarding the technical part, Nokia installed on this model all the best available, the phone supports all the 3G frequencies, and the highest speeds, the Bluetooth module is also the new v3.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi, GPS without questions, Digital Compass, voice commands etc. All this on the recently developed OS, Symbian ^3 and powered by an ARM 11 680 MHz processor plus 3D Graphics HW accelerator, that’s something new for the great majority of phones! What is also really special -- that’s the 12Mp camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, xenon flash, ND filter, geo-tagging, face and smile detection. This camera is capable of 720p video which further more can be played on your TV directly from the phone via the HMDI slot. Nokia, the world’s largest cellphone maker, posted today a smaller-than-expected decline in fourth-quarter net profit as strong sales in the key end-year holiday period boosted earnings, but the company said it faces competitive challenges. Net profit for the three months to Dec. 31 was EUR745 million, down from EUR948 million a year earlier but ahead of analysts’ expectations for EUR526 million. January
